Journey Ramsey and her daughter Becky started It Takes a Village 207 to help homeless vets in Maine. Journey was recently evicted, and now needs our help.

In 2020, It Takes a Village 207 joined the Maine Homeless Veterans Alliance. Journey had already been a board member of MHVA for years, and it made sense to join forces.

For those who know Journey, then you know she has helped many people avoid the life-changing challenge of homelessness. She and her daughter started It Takes a Village 207 because they are familiar with the enormous difficulties of poverty, homelessness, domestic violence, and food insecurity They know the helpless and isolated feelings these situations cause. They know the struggles of not knowing how to make ends meet.

Doing this line of work, you realize it doesn’t take much (especially in this economy mixed with the housing crisis) to be in the same shoes as the ones they help. Journey's landlord has just given her notice that she needs to leave the apartment where she, her husband, and their dog have lived for over seven years. The landlord is selling the home. Both Journey and her husband are on disability, and cannot even begin to afford housing. That's where you can help those who help so many.

A GoFundMe has been started to help Journey get back on her feet.

The aptly named It Takes a Village 207 is proving to be true. It will take Journey's village to help her get back on her feet. She's working with her daughter on housing, but everything is so expensive. But Journey doesn't just talk the talk about helping. She walks the walk, and recently did it with no shoes.

Her daughter posted on the ITAV207 Facebook page:

Journey may be mad at me for this but I am so damn proud of her!!! There was a man who desperately needed shoes, and we had no more more with us so she took her favorite boots off and gave them to him. This is why I am proud to have her as my mom!! ❤️ THIS is what it’s all about! Give what you can when you can.

Give what you can, when you can. Words to live by.
