Kim Snell from Gorham is a lot of things. At 62 years old, she is a grandmother to three children who mean the world to her; according to her daughter Rebekka, Kim has always put everyone in front of herself, including caring for her father for years after he was diagnosed with ALS.

Kim is also a fighter. After being diagnosed herself with mixed phenotype acute leukemia - a combination of two forms of leukemia - she was admitted to the hospital for treatment in April, staying 46 days. Since, she was been doing out-patient treatment, which she will continue for the next two years, Rebekka says.

In order to support her mom financially so she can focus on treatment, rest, and recovery, her daughter Rebekka has organized a fundraiser to offset some of Kim's ongoing medical expenses.

The event will be at Easy Day in South Portland on 8/18/19 from 4:30pm to 8:30pm. Tickets are $15 (kids get free entry) and includes pizza, a salad buffeta and live entertainment from Elmore's Trio band. Attendees will have a chance to win door prizes, raffles, and bid in a silent auction items including an autographed photo of Tom Brady, a Sunday River condo rental, numerous gift cards such as Hot Suppa, Flat Bread, Great Lost Bear, RiRa, Sage Wellness, Dimillos, Bruno's, Float Harder, Gift Baskets and much more, all generously donated by local businesses.

Needless to say, Kim's fund raiser will be more than just a way to offset medical expenses; it will be a fin night out at Easy Day, with the added warm fuzzy feeling of helping out a woman who deserves nothing less than the best.
