On Tuesday night the Portland Mariners hosted athletes from the Special Olympics of Maine as well as the city's tops media talents, which include Captain Ivy from 102.9 The Blimp, Jacquline Thomas from WMTW Channel 8, and Lori from the Q Morning Show and myself.

The event was a relay race around the rink between the first and second periods of the Maine Mariners and Adirondack Thunder game.

Everyone kept asking me if I could skate, but why would I not be able to? I'm a New Englandah!

My team came in dead last because one of my media talent teammates face planted on the ice and did not tag our Special Olympian teammate who is a speedskater named Kate.

I have no doubt that she would have been able to win the race for us had she been tagged in properly.

You might suspect that we were 'outmatched' athletically, but we had a great time none the less. And we were able to raise more awareness and money for the great cause.

The next event will be the Lobster Dip 2020, and find out how you can be a part of this event by clicking here.
