Kittery, Maine, Trucker Hits Truck, Guardrail in Separate Crashes

A Kittery trucker was taken "out-of-service" after two crashes attributed to driver inattention and fatigue Tuesday night along Route 127 in Hopkinton.
State Police said Mark Semple, 63, was stopped after hitting a guardrail near the Contoocook River Reservoir. Authorities found part of the guardrail stuck to the truck and being dragged from behind. Earlier Semple's truck, owned by Western Express of Nashville, struck the side of another tractor trailer, causing it "substantial damage," according to State Police.
Semple was sidelined after he and his truck violated certain conditions, and his big rig towed away. He was not charged.
State Police asked any witnesses to either crash to contact Hopkinton Police at 603-746-4141.
