Lewiston Crematorium Found With Unrefrigerated Bodies in the Basement is Going Up for Auction
In late spring of this year, Affordable Cremation Solutions was shut down after numerous complaints prompted an investigation. Families of the deceased were growing concerned after being unable to reach anyone at the business regarding their loved one's remains.
WGME reported in June that the remains of 12 individuals were found in the lower level of the building with "reddish brown fluid on the floor" and the remains of 11 individuals two days later in unrefrigerated storage.
Earlier in September the director, Ken Kincer, had his license revoked according to WMTW. Noted violations include "the disrespectful handling of human remains, and the failure to communicate with families."
Sun Journal reports that The Maine Board of Funeral Services revoked his license for a decade and he could return if he can prove he has stayed away from drugs and alcohol for at least 3 years.
Now the building is heading to auction through Keenan Auction Co. on October 27th on-site at 1 pm. Sun Journal reports that the city of Lewiston has assessed the property for $134,300.
Keenan Auctions lists the property as a 1.5 story building with a kitchen, dining room, living room, 3 bedrooms, and 1 full and 2 half baths. See the full listing here.
