The Biggest Pet Peeves That Set Maine Residents Off the Most
The interesting thing about pet peeves is, at least to this writer, sometimes they can be a pet peeve and other times they don't matter.
For example, someone's rudeness can literally mean nothing one day and even cause laughter at how ridiculous it is, and other days it can just be that one tipping point from being as zen as possible and redder and more heated than a boiled lobster.
In general, though, pet peeves are just those actions that set us off the most -- the often repeated words, phrases, or actions that just bring someone from 0 to 60 at the drop of a dime.
It can be something as simple and meaningless as a mispronounced word (because, honestly, at the end of the day, saying "Valentime's Day" instead of "Valentine's Day" isn't really ruining anyone's world.
It can also be something more serious (and, at times, none of our business, but still a pet peeve regardless) like the way someone treats other people, their pets, or their partner.
And other times, if repeated often enough, pet peeves can actually eat away at a person and make them second guess themselves (because how great does it make someone feel to constantly either be left out of social gatherings or be canceled on last minute?)
All that said, with a region like New England which is filled with some of the most opinionated people in the world -- especially in an area like Maine -- and pet peeves can be even more magnified and called out.
Which brings us to...
