Tourism in Maine seems to grow every year. People from out-of-state flock to "vacationland" to experience the outdoors, the shopping, the ocean, the food...the list goes on and on of what Maine has to offer.

There are boatloads of YouTube videos of tourists in Maine who often talk about what's so great about the state and the best places to visit and in this couple's case, 10 "culture shocks" that they found visiting Maine.

There's something different and refreshing about this video from Wolters World YouTube channel. Most YouTube "influencers" who visit Maine and create videos about tourism here, never bother to go anywhere where you can't see the ocean.

Maine may have 3,500 miles of coastline, but there are also 6,000 lakes and ponds, more than 25 ski areas, 436,064 acres of state and national parks land area of 30,836.6 square miles according to the United States Census Bureau. There's more to do here than just sightseeing near the ocean.

One of the 10 culture shocks Wolters World mentions is that Maine has an inland with plenty of activities in the outdoors, restaurants as good if not better than what you find in Portland, amusements, and lakes to fish on. There's a long list of great things to do that aren't on the coast.

Inland in the fall is beautiful with the changing of the leaves, but you will only see a fraction of those leaves along the coast. We aren't called "Vacationland" for only part of the state. Kudos to Wolters World for knowing that Maine isn't just about the coast.
