Maine’s First Duluth Trading Company Is Officially Open In South Portland
Several months ago, buzz began to grow when a new building near the Portland JetPort was being constructed. The buzz grew louder when people found out it would be the very first location of Duluth Trading Company in Maine. The 'workwear' retailer, which sells both men's and women's clothing, has officially opened according to their Facebook page. Which includes a chance for customers to save some cash in celebration of the grand opening.
According to MaineBiz, the new location is only Duluth Trading Company's 45th store nationwide. The business started as a catalog-sales company, but after building an enthusiastic customer base from coast-to-coast, they decided to begin investing in brick-and-mortar stores when so many other retailers were downsizing.
There will be plenty of competition in a crowded South Portland market. Mainers have been loyal to L.L. Bean products and Cabela's is only a hop, skip and jump away. But Duluth believes their products are unique to any market, and is hopeful the people of Maine agree. They sell themselves as a company that makes workwear thats both functional and fashionable.
Duluth chose the unique South Portland location because of its visibility from the Maine Turnpike and proximity to downtown Portland.
