Spring street in Portland and undergone a major change with the removal of the decades old median and that means there's a new way to park that signs say are as 'easy as 1-2-3.'

The removal of the median on Spring Street has created more room for parking spaces. The spaces that were parallel along the sidewalk of the street have been replaced with diagonal parking, which means more spots and more revenue for the city from the parking meters.

To make it easy to get in and out of these spaces, they are designed to be backed into. Backing into a space is a pretty much driver education 101, but a new sign on Spring Street shows you how to do as easy as 1-2-3.

Of course this isn't going to stop anyone from doing it the wrong way and clogging up traffic as they try to get in and out of these spots, but it's a nice reminder from the city of what everyone behind the wheel should already know how to do.
