The winds were icy cold and strong today throughout Maine.

You know it's windy when giant signs are down. Karen Serunian saw the Hannaford Supermarket sign in Scarborough knocked right over. This is the Hannaford on Route One in Scarborough.

Wow. That's not good. Karen was surprised to see this. I mean, we've had some hefty winds before, but for some reason, the sign gave up this day.

The best part of a good gusty wind is if it happens on the day you set out the trash. Driving home, Karen had to do some serious dodging of the new blue cars in the middle of the street. She explained that the picture was blurry because of the Mario Kart driving she had to do.

According to the NOAA, there was a wind gust around noon on Thursday, February 29, at 54 MPH. I know that I was picking out asparagus at the Hannaford in Portland (sign not moved), when a lady with her cart looked lost.

I was near the double entry doors at the main entrance, and asked if she was okay. She said,

Oh, yes. But I lost my list. I just had it.

I looked back down to the asparagus selection, and there was her list. A wind gust that got through the double doors had blown it off her cart. She told me I was going to heaven. I get it. It's punishment to shop without the list you spent so much time preparing.

Here's to everyone getting through more weird Maine weather.
