South Portland Football Team Forfeits Playoff Game to Bonney Eagle
News Center Maine is reporting that the South Portland Red Riots will forfeit their first-round playoff game against Bonney Eagle.
While all details aren't clear, it seems as though South Portland's concerns about injuries and player safety dictated the decision by the school. The winner of that game would have gone on to play Scarborough in the regional semifinals.
The South Portland High School football team had a rough year this year, winding up with a 1-7 record. Bonney Eagle played them earlier in the year and won 34-6.
