With Red Sox pitching ace Chris Sale scheduled to pitch at Hadlock Field on Tuesday, we went back to the Sea Dog archives to see what other Red Sox stars have come to Portland for rehabilitation stints. Basically, when a player returns to play after being injured or after surgery, the Red Sox will send a player to Portland to get them back in the groove. This gives the fans a rare opportunity to see a mega-star right here in Portland. And we've seen some massive Sox stars over the years.
The date was May 24, 2019. Our Portland Sea Dogs were playing the Altoona Curve. No one suspected that this day would be the last time Dustin Pedroia would play as a professional baseball player. This rehab stint in Portland would be Pedey's final game. After 14 seasons, Pedroia announced his retirement from baseball this week.
Halloween is going to be a little different this year. To Treat or Not To Treat? That is the question. Luckily, our beloved Slugger and the Portland Sea Dogs have some great alternatives for you. Check out the Halloween Home Delivery and the SLUGG-O-LANTERN Stencils!
We have seen a lot of COVID-19 inspired merch but this t-shirt from our beloved Portland Sea Dogs is the best yet. It's a shirt to celebrate the Sea Dogs 2020 "undefeated" season. Of course, the Dogs never really got rolling this year because of the pandemic but you can show your love for the home team with this awesome memento. Hey, they never lost a game! The design is really cool. Awesome artwork on the front and a "Tour Date" feel on the back.
