The Associated Press reports 3 Portland schools were briefly placed on lockdown Friday when a teenage student showed another student a gun that was tucked away in his waistband and had threatened to use it.

WMTW.com says Lincoln Middle School, along with Deering High School and Longfellow Elementary School were all placed on lockdown while Portland Police searched for the 13 year old student. It was the last day of school for most students and the majority of them had already left before the lockdown was ordered.

The student, whose name was not made public due to his age, was found a little after 1pm in a nearby cemetery and taken into custody and charged with criminal threatening and terrorizing, according to the article. A realistic looking pellet gun was also found in the cemetery which is believed to be the weapon the student had.

Pellet guns are extremely dangerous in these types of situations because they so closely resemble a real weapon.
