World's Largest Lobster Roll

In case you weren't aware, the largest lobster roll in the world is made and sold right here in New England, at the infamous and beloved Taste of Maine Restaurant in Woolwich, Maine.

Taste of Maine Lobster Roll Price

Because the price of buying lobster to then prepare, cook, and serve, fluctuates for restaurants themselves every season, how much they charge for a lobster (or seafood dish in general) can fluctuate on the regular, which is why most restaurants will list the cost of a lot of their seafood dishes as "Market Price."

When a lobster roll juggernaut like Taste of Maine opened for its 46th season back in April 2024, customers had left comments on Facebook mentioning the market price for their beast of a roll was around $150.

And that price point is important because of the fact that in an entirely different part of the country, a "Maine lobster roll" (nowhere near the world's largest) costs almost double what Taste of Maine charges for their massive roll.

F1 Miami

The Miami Grand Prix was held on Sunday, May 5, 2024. However, it wasn't the Formula 1 race itself that was making headlines. Instead, it was the actual menu of items sold to fans during the event that went viral because of the obscene prices being charged.

Like, $180 for a plate of nachos level of obscene.

The menu first caught this writer's attention when it was posted online by Massachusetts resident, Justin Loranger, before being confirmed in a comedy video highlighting the entire event on the YouTube channel FP1Will.

Maine Lobster Roll

And here's the thing -- ridiculous, egregious, insulting prices aside -- essentially, listing that menu item as a "Maine Lobster Roll" couldn't be further from false advertising.

Because in most Maine spots, whether Taste of Maine Restaurant in Woolwich, any of the Bite Into Maine locations, The Highroller Lobster Co., in Portland, or any other hot spot that serves lobster rolls, what we get is simply a buttered and toasted roll filled with chunks of lobster meat tossed in mayo.

But the ingredients of the "Maine Lobster Roll" at F1 Miami -- lemon aioli? Frizzled potatoes? And WTF is a perigord truffle? Nothing found in a Maine lobster roll, that's what it is.

By the way, that $280 price point? That's actually an improvement from last year, according to Mass resident Justin Loranger's post, because in the comments section is a picture of last year's menu, which lists that fake AF "Maine Lobster Roll" at $450!

NOPE.
