Fat Boy Drive-In in Brunswick, Maine, Confirms It’s Opening for 2026
When a new sale listing went up in May, and there was no season-opening announcement in sight, the big question for many was whether Fat Boy in Brunswick, Maine, would return for 2026.
Turns out, the iconic drive-in will be back after all for its 71st season.
The restaurant returns on Friday, June 26, 2026, and there will be some new additions when it opens.
Will Fat Boy in Brunswick, Maine, Open in 2026?
I remember back in the day when March signaled the return of Fat Boy, but in the past few years, opening day has moved further into the spring.
In fact, May 17 marked the start of the 2025 season.
So, Friday, June 26, will be one of the latest times that Fat Boy opens in its multi-decade run.
In a recent Facebook message, the drive-in shared, "It’s been a battle recovering [from] the harsh winter, but we are ready to open for the summer."
Despite some challenges, it looks like you'll be able to check out Fat Boy once again.
What's New at Fat Boy in Brunswick, Maine, in 2026?
Fat Boy shared that there will be some new things to look out for when visiting in 2026.
That includes some new menu items as well as some returning old favorites. Might that be the "whoppers and frappes" teased on Facebook on June 16?
It certainly sounds like that will be part of the food options as Fat Boy confirmed that the "frappes machine [has been] recommissioned and [is] ready to rock."
But that's not all. The local drive-in has added a new "Yard" play area for families, including a sand pit, yard games, picnic tables, and an old sailboat hull for climbing and planting.

Fat Boy explained the thinking behind the new addition in its Facebook message: "It’s always a struggle to find free things for kiddos to do all year round and thought it was a great use of the space."
You might have noticed the Fat Boy food truck parked near the new Yard area, but that's just for advertising their catering services. The restaurant will still operate out of the main building as usual.
