What a great way to honor Fido and raise some much needed money.

The Greater Androscoggin Humane Society has a great idea to raise money. They are hosting a "Practically Purrfect" Pet Portraits fundraiser. You send a picture of your pet, donate 25 dollars and an 'artist' is assigned to draw their interpretation of your pet!

They have assembled quite a diverse group of artists with varying skill levels - trained artists, pet enthusiasts, children - everyone’s artistic talent will be celebrated!

They have such a great goal. The Greater Androscoggin Humane Society hopes to raise $10,000 so they can buy a new industrial washing machine and dryer. I have volunteered to be an artist and I'm super excited and even more scared. Why?

I'm not an artist. It's funny because I wanted to be an artist when I grew up. Both of my parents were artists. In fact, they met at the Chicago Institute of Art. But sadly, I did not inherit that gene. I got plenty of other genes...just not the artistic one. But that's part of the fun of this fundraiser - you don't have to be an artist to honor someone's pet.

Would you like to be an artist? They are looking for more! Again, you don't have to have a background in art...just a love for helping animals and those that take care of them.
