Once only open to guests of the ViewPoint Hotel, the awkward little restaurant is now open to all.

According to Seacoastonline, Joe Lipton calls his tiny restaurant Little Auk, because he always thought it was a little awkward. The restaurant was only open to guests of the gorgeous ViewPoint hotel, which overlooks Nubble Lighthouse. But this season, he's opened it up to everyone.

Joe also noticed that calling the now public outdoor restaurant Little Auk was fun because of a sea bird known as the auk, which was also common to the area. They look like black and white puffins.

The restaurant is built around a 1969 Airstream that has a wooden bar with seating. Don't worry about baking in the sun, because they have a tent too. Joe isn't going all out with advertising the spot, because he wants it to remain a bit of a secret. If you know, you know. Joe told Seacoastonline,

We’re hoping that this is like a hidden gem that people can get to know. The food is kind of, we say, Tiki taco bar. A mixture of Mexican, Polynesian, kind of infused food.

When they opened in mid-May, the menu had raw bar items and seafood like oysters, ceviche, scallops, and shrimp, plus fun and elevated pub fare like sliders (beef, lamb plant-based) and Maine lobster.
