It's been a year now since a major reconstruction project of River Road from the Westbrook city line to Depot Road began. It's now just halfway through the planned two year project to completely reconstruct the majority of River Road in Windham. As that construction continues, be prepared for a complete closure of a section of River Road beginning Monday.

The Maine DOT has announced that on Monday, July 27, Shaw Construction will begin the replacement of Doles Bridge on River Road, which crosses over Colley Wright Brook just south of the Windham Correctional Facility.

There will be about a nine mile detour off River road onto Routes 25, 237, and 202 to get around the closure at the bridge, but all businesses on River Road will remain open and accessible from one side or the other of the bridge construction site. Detours will be marked, just allow yourself some extra time to get where you need to go.

The Maine DOT hopes to reopen this section of River Road on Wednesday, August 5th as long as the weather cooperates and doesn't slow the bridge replacement down.

The entire River Road reconstruction project is planned to wrap up in the summer of 2021.
