The New Smoked in Portland, Maine, Wants to Be a Jedi

In December of 2023, the former Binga's in Windham announced that they were now called "Smoked." Things were mostly the same, including the staff. The name change came with the departure of one of the two owners, who now just owns Binga's in Yarmouth.

Now, a second location has opened on Forest Avenue, and just like the Windham locations, their message board is putting some smiles on a whole new audience of drivers.

On opening day at the new Smoked Portland, the announcement was loud and clear on their new message board on Forest Avenue for drivers to see as they passed by. Luckily, they have pretty much every symbol you'd find on your keyboard, which comes in handy for censoring.

The first message I've seen since their grand opening message was on Monday, and the word "Jedi" is what caught my attention.

I'm a HUGE Star Wars geek. I had all the toys in the '70s and '80s, including a giant Millennium Falcon. I even have my own lightsaber.

I'm a hardcore fan. I may own a lightsaber, but I stop at Star Wars cosplay.

Someone at Smoked Portland sounds like a Star Wars fan, but this message may be swaying the Jedi to the dark side.

In case it's tiny on your phone, it reads:

"If I were a Jedi, there's a 100% chance I would use the Force inappropriately."

No worries. I don't think anyone at Smoked Portland has been swayed by the dark side. At least not yet.
