Bubba’s Sulky Lounge Named 7th Best Dive Bar in America [PICTURES]
One of the best places to party is Bubba's Sulky Lounge, a true dive bar. That's not an insult, that's a compliment! Bubba's was just named the 7th best dive bar in the country!
When Bubba graduated from Portland High School, he went into the Marine Corp and when he got back opened up his first his first bar in 1959.
Bubba's moved to their location on Portland Street in 1961 where it's been ever since. It's right across from the Portland Post Office.
It's a dive bar with tons of character, and characters! It's a hot spot with 80's nights and dance parties! It's filled with antiques and lunch boxes line the walls! You can sit for hours and try to find the one you used as a kid! Mines in there somewhere...
They have two bars and two dance floors - one with that awesome disco floor!
I went to find a picture of it with Google Street Maps - and for some reason it was all blurred out! Wonder who was standing in front?
Bubba's has been around so long, he was often referred to as the Mayor of Portland (don't tell Ethan Strimling that!) If you haven't been, put it on your bucket list for a Friday or Saturday night out! You'll have the time of your life!
