I Got an Awesome Gift From My Son For Father’s Day
What's the perfect gift for a geek like me from his son for Father's Day? A Dad Crate! What's a dad crate? It's my son's personalized Loot Crate that he made for me with all kinds of awesome stuff in it.
If you haven't heard of Loot Crate, it's one of the many subscription services that are all the rage right now. For a monthly fee, you receive a box of stuff each month with things chosen that geeks or gamers or whoever would like.
My son Jake relabeled a Loot Crate box he had as a "Dad Crate."
He wrote the Q97.9 logo on the front of the box with the words "Happy Father's Day." Inside I found all kinds of geek stuff, like this t-shirt with all three DeLoreans from the Back to the Future movies with the words "88 Miles Per Hour." In case you've never seen the movies...and you should!...88 miles per hour is the speed the DeLorean has to get up to time travel. I wore this to work today with pride.
Then there were bacon mints. I've never tried them, but I can't wait. A Pac-Man poster showing the arcade game being packaged into an Atari 2600 cartridge. Sadly the game wasn't even close to the arcade version, but I played it for hours on end anyway.
I also got a Space Invaders tie. I rarely wear ties, but I may start now!
Thanks Jake. You make me very proud to be your dad and you made Father's Day the best day of the year. Love you buddy!
