Well, I did it. I made my weight loss goal! I am very proud of myself.

If you've been following along, you know I have promised myself to become a bit more healthy for my family. My son is seven and runs circles around me, and I want to be able to keep up with his rambunctious spirit. To do that, I want to be at peak health for my age.

I decided to share this very private journey with the public, because if I find something that works for me, maybe it'll do the same for you. I also want to erase the stigma of women and losing weight, and believe everyone should have the chance to enhance their inner selves.

Dr. Brian Gillis and his manager Chris Weeks at the Medical Wellness Center in Oakland, Maine, introduced me to a vital addition to my daily regimen for a healthier lifestyle.

LOOK: My Journey Beginning the Popular Semaglutide Shots

About 'The Shot'

It's called Semaglutide.

Semaglutide serves as an antidiabetic medication prescribed for type 2 diabetes treatment, and also functions as a weight loss medication intended for long-term weight management. This was developed by Novo Nordisk in 2012, and as per Wikipedia, it operates by mimicking the action of glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptors, essentially telling to your body that you are full.

This regime has truly worked wonders. I started on November 1, and since then, I have lost over 40 pounds and hit my goal weight. I self-administer a shot into my abdomen each week.

For me, this was always meant to be a temporary solution. I've stopped taking it now, and have successfully maintained my weight loss through regular exercise at the gym and by sticking to a healthy diet. I also drink tons of water, because water is life.

Don't get me wrong, my appetite has returned somewhat. But because I've changed my lifestyle, I find it easier to manage and avoid overindulging.

It's crucial to mention that alongside taking the shot, I put in a lot of exercise, adopted healthy eating habits, and leveled up my water intake. I consistently emphasize that I didn't solely rely on the shot to achieve results. This balanced approach contributed to the speed and effectiveness of my progress.
