Winter may not be a humans first choice of season, but for a good boi or girl it doesn't matter the season.. there's always romping to do. Especially in Maine and here's why.

Maine could absolutely be identified as a pet-friendly state and I think I speak for many locals when I say that it feels like almost every household has a cat or dog. It's endearing and makes me love this state even more.

Pet-friendly winter activities in Maine

Beach Romps

Maine is beautiful for so many reasons, but always having access to the ocean and its' beaches might be the biggest one. If you have a doggo then you know how much they love romping around the beach.

As I said earlier, Maine is such a pet-friendly state that even the beaches allow your fur babies to run around together after a specific time of day. Willard Beach in South Portland or Higgins Beach deep in Scarborough are both awesome choices to let your dog run along the shore.

Dog-Friendly Stores Maine

Business owners all over the state seem to be more accepting of dogs entering their store in any season really.

One thing I've really been appreciative of lately is the way it seems like store owners are even more inviting to your pup and allow them to come in to warm up.

Shout out to South Portland's TJMaxx staff.

Although yes, all TJX stores like Marshalls, Homegoods or Sierra are pet-friendly, the So Po staff is always excited and welcoming to my own fur baby Maverick.

Snow

As simple as this sounds, it's universal knowledge that dogs LOVE jumping around in the snow.

Since Maine is so damn cold in the winter, it tends to snow here a lot which means doggos get their snow days too!

Beach days in the wintertime are always fun because it feels like you get to see a perspective of nature without the solution of people in the summertime.

Dogs love Maine winters.
