This Tricked Out Maine School Bus is Actually the Ultimate R.V.
Honestly, I'd drive an RV faster than I'd tow one behind me.
Towing anything behind your vehicle is the pits if you don't have solid trailer skills. Back in my touring days, the singer in my band had next-level skills when maneuvering the van and trailer. He once parallel parked the van and trailer into two spots in the middle of Boston. It was the most amazing thing I'd ever seen.
I can't even back my riding lawn mower up when the trailer is attached. It's hilarious to watch. So if I were ever to own any kind of RV, it'd have to be a self contained vehicle. I drove an old Winnebago once, and it was a blast. So when I saw this "Kool Bus" as it's named, I admit, I did a bit of a double take.
I mean, you'd drive a bus with flames on it, right?
Not just flames, they've even modified the body around it to augment the flames. And they pretty much go all the way around it, in a very dragon-like fashion. And yes, that is a train's air horn attached to the roof. If you decide to lay on that horn in traffic, other people are definitely gonna know it.
Just sort of let the whole view sink in. It's amazing...
There is something reminiscent of the shape of the bus. It kind of looks like the way a kid would draw a bus. Remember when you're young, and you'd add extra tiers to the shape. But what's actually going on is some extra headroom toward the back where the beds are. Headroom is a blessing when you're bleary eyed in the morning.
It really does look super comfy in there.
Carpets? Chairs? Heck, there's even a little footstool to prop your tired feet on when you've had a long day of driving. What's always appealed to me about an RV, is the option to go anywhere you want, without worrying about a place to stay. Even better, it'll always feel like a little bit of home, wherever you go.
You can cook, you can clean, you can do it all in here.
The other big thing about traveling like this, is being able to cook your own meals. That'll definitely save you a few bucks. But you also need to be able to clean up after yourself. There's a full service, albeit small, kitchen on this bus.
You can even look out the window while you do dishes, just like at home. Except in the Kool Bus, your scenery will change every day. Don't like what you see out the kitchen window? Go somewhere else!
This common area really shows just how big this thing is.
Here, you can see the potty, you can see the kitchen, you can even see into the bedroom a little. If it's just two of you hitting the road in this thing, you'll definitely feel like you can spread out quite a bit.
The bedroom actually looks pretty darn cozy.
The bedroom can be converted from these twin beds to a queen size bed as well. On the other hand, I sometimes look forward to sleeping in a separate bed from my wife, hahaha. I sleep like a champ.
As far as all the other amenities you'd expect in an RV, the Kool Bus has them. It's got a generator, roof mounted AC unit, and other features that will make it a blast to take out on the road. It's listed on Facebook Marketplace right now for $19,000. That ain't bad. And it's gotta be one of the most unique vehicles out on the road right now. Are you going to make it yours?
If you decide to trick out the Kool Bus even more, maybe stay away from these items in your travels...
