Little Maine Pup Making National News
This little pup's name is Lucky Tim. He was born with no wrist bones in his right leg and has to have it amputated...but he has an amazing journey ahead in Maine.
According to the Portland Press Herald, he's already met some Maine kids at Leeds Central School. He might just become a regular at the school. They actually named him. He had been nick named Tiny Tim. You have to meet Christy Gardner, his person.
Christy is a veteran from Auburn and double amputee. she brought her service dog, Moxie, to Leeds Central School for a presentation. The 3rd and 4th grade classes were super curious about service dogs.
They were so moved, the classes want to raise $1,000 to cover the expenses of getting a service dog for a veteran through the Maine nonprofit K9s on The Front Line. They are close to getting that goal.
But the principal of the school also thought it would be great to have a service dog for Leeds Central School. They thought maybe Lucky Tim could be that dog.
Christy has raised pups as therapy dogs for other schools and sees how much they help. When kids can't open to a parent or teacher, they open up to the therapy dog...
The puppy has been donated to the school - but Lucky Tim has some serious challenges ahead that are also expensive. He must lose the leg that he struggles to walk with. He also has other health issues, and then must be trained.
But, everyone agrees - he's the perfect dog for the task ahead. It is an expensive journey. Some of the cost has been covered already, but to get these kids this therapy dog, they are hoping to raise money to cover future health issues and further training.
There is a GoFundMe page, if you would like to help this little guy live up to his full potential. That face alone....that face...
Lucky even made the CBS Evening News. I dare you to watch this and not cry....
