Of course, formerly known as Binga's, Smoked Windham may be loved for their food and stellar service, but is absolutely iconic for the creative, hilarious, and sarcastic signs they always post up.

And, of course, we can't forget that back in February 2024, Maine got some sign recognition again when Kim Kardashian randomly came across a sign posted outside of King Eider's Pub in Damariscotta.

Keeping in line with successful Maine businesses flexing their sarcasm and creativity, it looks like a popular Maine bookstore has joined the clever sign parade.

Longfellow Books Maine

There never seems to be a time where Longfellow Books, located in Monument Square in Portland, Maine, is quiet.

Anytime you're either walking through Monument Square or inside a business building that overlooks the area, there always seems to be customers either walking in the door, or walking out with a smile on their face and a new book or two to dive into.

And with it seeming like the winter weather has finally been left behind and the spring sunshine and warmth being ushered into the area, the bookworms working inside of what Best Things Maine calls one of Maine's best bookstores had a plea for the public.

For what it's worth, there are plenty of outdoor benches and areas to sit around Monument Square to read a freshly purchased book on a beautiful day while you're helping the pleading booksellers get closer to escaping, one book at a time.
