The only experience most American's have had with Vegemite is in the lyrics to Men at Work's song 'Down Under.' The line goes, 'I said, "do you speak-a my language?"
He just smiled and gave me a Vegemite sandwich.' That changed for the Q Morning Show on Friday morning when we tried Vegemite shipped to the United States from friends in Australia.

What exactly is Vegemite? It's a black spread that comes in a jar, like jam, but there's nothing sweet about it. It is made from leftover brewers' yeast extract with various vegetable and spice additives. Basically salt.

We brought a toaster into the studio, a loaf of bread, spread some Vegemite lightly on the toast and gave it a try.
